Sample Stacks is a beamline component. JJ X-Ray has delivered Sample Stacks for ISIS, UK.
The Sample Stacks solution consists of three identical heavy loads (700 kg) and extremely high precision Sample Positioning Stacks for ISIS Target Station 2, Rutherford Appleton National Laboratory, UK. The first one was delivered in 2008, and in 2012 we delivered two more.
The Sample Positioning Stacks have six (seven in 2012 version) degrees of freedom and a load capacity.
They were built according to the following specifications:

The total height of the assembly in lower position is 990 mm. All motions are encoded and can be operated in closed loop providing even higher accuracy. The 700 kg load capacity with accuracies as above are valid for +/-8° on the crossed arcs and with +/- 50 mm offset in y-translation with a center of mass at 550 mm above the top plate. The 150 kg load capacity with accuracies as above is valid for +/-20° on the crossed arcs and with +/- 300 mm offset in y-translation with a center of mass at 550 mm above the top plate.
